Debra Valencia's endeavor in the art of Shibori is based on ancient Japanese craft traditions. She has created dozens of handmade textiles studying under the guidance of master instructors in both the USA and Japan. Using a variety of techniques including hand-cut stencils, resist pastes, sewing, folding, binding, and clamping, her works are one of a kind originals.

Valencia's contemporary sensibilities bring a modern twist to this ancient dye technique adding large scale, collage, and overlay of prints, fashion-forward colors, icons, typography, embellishments, and other unexpected combinations. The textural creations are be utilized for products in the home textiles, home accents, fashion, accessories, beauty, stationery, gift, and craft markets.

About Debra Valencia™ Home Collections

For the new home collections for Spectrum Home Textiles, Debra has curated groupings of Shibori designs into four distinct bedding ensembles: Asami, Hana, Mariko, and Toshi. Each ensemble has been carefully reproduced from the original hand-dyed originals in classic Indigo Blue. Each ensemble features matching shams, Euro shams, bed skirts, and three accent pillows. Some pillows feature embroidery details.
